Local Membership
Joining our local chapter helps support our activities. As a member, you can receive emails concerning chapter meetings, field trips, and special events. To subscribe or unsubscribe to email notices, send a request to Shirley Sturts
Our newsletter, "The Fish Hawk Herald", is published on our Website. If you would like to receive a hard copy of the newsletter in the regular mail, choose those options below. All members receive the September newsletter as a hardcopy.

National Membership Questions?

There have been questions from our membership regarding the financial relationship between National Audubon and the local chapter. Below are the questions and answers from Brendan Casey, Audubon Chapter Services in Missoula, MT. (Please note that as of August 2016 Brendan Casey is no longer with Audubon and there is no longer a Chapter Services in Missoula).Question:
Does National give money to local chapters based on chapter membership numbers?Answer:
Chapters receive one baseline funding payment each year, generally between September and January, in the month after the Chapter Annual Report has been received and the Chapter has been recertified by the State Office or Chapter Services Office. The payment is made via direct deposit to the Chapter's checking account. The amount of funding for each Chapter is a set formula (50% of the amount of "dues share" received by each Chapter in 2001, the last year "dues share" was provided). The amount per chapter has been the same since 2003, and is not tied to the current number of members nor the amount of membership funding received from those members. Baseline Funding replaced the former "dues share." Chapters may use the funds for any purpose deemed appropriate by their Board.Note: Our CDA Chapter receives approximately $900 each year from National.

In fall of 2012, Coeur d’Alene Audubon began collecting annual dues for our local Chapter membership for the first time. These donations help sustain our mission statement to support and protect Idaho’s wildlife. As a 501(c))(3) organization any contributions are tax deductible. Payment is due each September to cover the fiscal year – August through July.
Each September every active member in our chapter receives a hard copy of the FishHawk Herald newsletter. This year a blue form and envelope will be included to remind you that it is time to pay your annual dues. If you do not receive a newsletter, please contact me. It may be that we do not have a street address for you and we would like to be able improve our database with that information. As of August 28, 2016, we have 112 members that are active in our chapter. FOUR of our 112 members are paid up past September 1, 2016. Everyone else is due at this time.
