Carder Farm Breakfast & Birding

Submitted by Lisa Clark, Member

This was such a wonderful year-end event. Members surprised me with their culinary skills at this potluck breakfast. We enjoyed delicious breakfast foods and fine conversation in the beautiful home of members Theresa Shaffer and Wes Hanson. Their farm and home is located in Cougar Bay adjacent to a 160 acre conservation easement. It was a rainy day and this author decided to stay put in front of the fireplace, instead of heading out to bird, assured that at least a few others would join me. I was wrong. Everyone braved the elements in rain gear for almost a full hour, and came back with sightings of bluebirds and several other species. I read a birding book by the Hanson’s roaring fire with a blanket on my lap and a cuppa to cap off a perfect morning. Thanks to Theresa and Wes for hosting our year-end event for the chapter’s 34th year.
