Monthly Chapter Meeting

  • Lutheran Church of the Master 4800 North Ramsey Road Coeur d'Alene, ID, 83815 United States (map)

Kara Carleton, the Idaho Master Garden Program Coordinator, will present this evening on how to make our yards and gardens a bit wilder to create better habitat for native pollinators and insects to benefit birds and local ecosystems. Learn strategies and techniques to improve how we prepare our yards for winter, plan new plantings, and think about spring/summer gardening to better support native insects that will be pollinators and food sources for birds.

Well adapted plant communities thrive in changing conditions, require less maintenance in the long run, and lend a hand to native pollinators in all stages of life. Northern Idaho is home to about 600 native bee species and some simple (and easy!!) changes in how you garden can improve their ability to thrive. This will be a fun and interesting talk, accompanied by the bird-of-the-month presentation and a conservation moment.
