Welcome back from our winter weather break (no chapter meetings for the months of January/February 2025). We wish to extend a warm welcome to Cam Heusser and Ben Luukkonen, who will present a joint presentation on the Coeur d’Alene Tribe's work on the eagle aviary; discussion on their findings regarding osprey and waterfowl monitoring will be presented as well. You won’t want to miss this one!
Cameron Heusser currently serves as the Wildlife Division Lead for the Coeur d’Alene Tribe, and has worked for the Tribe since 2001. As the Division Lead, he oversees a variety of work; including habitat restoration projects that emphasize wetland and riparian enhancement, monitoring of wildlife populations such as big game, predators and forest carnivores, the development of hunting and fishing regulations, and education and outreach related activities.
Ben Luukkonen started as the Waterfowl Biologist for the Coeur d’Alene Tribe Wildlife Division in July 2024. He’s working on expanding the Wildlife Division’s migratory bird monitoring and management program. This includes designing surveys, collecting and analyzing data, and developing habitat and harvest management recommendations for migratory birds.
